Starting the trace
You may trace in three modes:
· Step – traces the playback one command at a time (shortcut Ctrl + Right Arrow)
· Next PB – traces and breaks at the next cell to play video (shortcut Ctrl + Up Arrow)
· Run – just play the DVD as your standalone player would (shortcut Ctrl + Down Arrow)
While PgcEdit traces the DVD, it marks PGCs that are visited in yellow and PGCs where video that is actually played in green. This makes it easier to locate which PGCs are never visited (even though they might not be “Uncalled PGCs”) or have video content that is never played.
During playback, you may:
· Quickjump to any of the defined menus, which breaks the playback and goes to the menu
· Subject to whatever prohibited user operations may be set, simulate a quickjump to another title, chapter (PTT), or change the audio or subpicture stream or selected angle.
· Press the Next, Previous or Return buttons to skip chapters or execute the GoUp action
· Break the trace (the Run button turns into a red Break button during playback) – shortcut Ctrl + Left Arrow or Escape
· Slow things down by pressing Step
· Preview the cell being played
· Eject the DVD (by pressing the load/eject button) – right click on this button to re-start from the “Exit state” (play title 1, all GPRMs reset to 0).
Notes:
· If you wish to restart the trace from the beginning, you must press the load/eject button (just think of the trace as a normal DVD player!)
· It may be necessary to “Break” the playback to click on a defined menu type or one of the Next/Prev/Return buttons.
· Trace will probably not perform properly if you don’t trace in the precise order that the DVD commands are executed. You may want to manually go to another PGC for a while but the state of the registers will most likely not be correct. When tracing the DVD, you should normally only use the controls in the Trace pane, and never edit or modify the DVD, unless you know what you are doing.
· The duration slider (to the right of Run) controls the duration of the preview. Set it to meet your needs.
