Warner Archive Collection, which sells catalog titles in a manufactured-on-demand fashion, now features Blu-ray movies

The Warner Archive Collection (WAC) will now feature Blu-ray titles, starting with Deathtrap and Gypsy available on the 20th of November.

The WAC uses an unique "manufactured-on-demand" model, where each order is fulfilled by using recorded DVDs (and now Blu-ray discs), as opposed to the traditional mass manufacturing (and pressed discs) model. This allows previously unreleased catalog titles to be made available without having the overhead of a general release.

The new Blu-ray releases currently priced at $19.95, with free shipping.

Warner has announced that, beginning in February 2013, the WAC program will feature at least two new Blu-ray releases each month, adding to the more than 2,000 titles that are already available.

Thomas Gewecke, President of Warner Bros. Digital Distribution, hailed the expansion to the Blu-ray format.

"This is an important innovation that fulfills consumer demand for high definition releases that otherwise would not be available in physical formats. We’re excited to have the opportunity to further expand the Warner Archive Collection into the Blu-ray marketplace with an impressive slate of releases," said Gewecke.
