The debate over "which console is better" is as old as Atari versus Intellivision (for the record, Intellivision was far superior). Through the years we've gone from Atari versus Intellivision, to Intellivision versus Colecovision, to Nintendo versus Sega, to Sega versus Sony, and now finally Sony versus Microsoft. Ignoring the schoolyard name calling, there have been times at which the graphics that could be displayed on one system were clearly and measurably superior to another.
Now, Swedish developer Starbreeze AB—best known for their critically acclaimed title Chronicles of Riddick—is saying that these times are over. In an interview with IGN, lead designer Magnus Högdahl was asked flat-out what the strengths and weaknesses of the PS3 and Xbox 360 were:
"The PS3 will have a content size advantage with Blu-ray and a CPU advantage for titles that are able to utilize a lot of the SPUs. The Xbox360 has a slight GPU advantage and its general purpose triple-core CPU is relatively easy to utilize compared to SPUs. I expect that it will be near impossible to tell Xbox360 and PS3 screenshots apart."
