A new hack has been developed that allows DVD playback on your Wii game console

Bored hackers at tehskeen.com have finally figured out a way to play DVDs on your Nintendo Wii. There was talk at one time about Nintendo releasing a DVD enabled Wii back in fall of 06 but, it never happened.

Probably because DVD players are so cheap and can be picked up nearly anywhere, why bother hacking your Wii for DVD playback. I guess just for the thrills and bragging rights?
