Over a year and a half since the format war ended there are more Americans with HD DVD players than with Blu-ray players

According to a study by Harris Interactive, the number of HD-DVD players are in more homes than Blu-ray players.  It is still unclear if people counted the HD-DVD add on for the XBOX 360 as a "HD-DVD player" or the PS3 as a "Blu-ray player".

The high prices of Blu-ray discs and players, indecisiveness on Blu-ray profiles, and the recession were all contributing factors in the results of this survey. The recent explosion of VOD services and download options, Blu-ray's future looks bleak.
