The developers of Videolan have sent Apple a formal notification of copyright infringement regarding VLC in the iTunes App Store.

See, VLC is distributed under the GPL, while VLC's iOS app is distributed by Apple under their iTunes Terms and Conditions.

Apple limits users to installing both free and paid of the software  on a maximum of 5 devices and you can't put limitations on software thats under the GPL license.

If I were you, I would go grab a copy before it disappears.
