The results and analysis for Blu-ray (and DVD) sales for the week ending 2nd July 2011 has just been posted. Another great week for Blu-ray, and another record broken, with Sucker Punch getting more than 61% in Blu-ray market share, a record for first week sale results. And it wasn't even the best selling Blu-ray title of the week, which belonged to the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition Trilogy, which was exclusively re-released on Blu-ray.
Sucker Punch's result means that, pretty soon, a movie will sell 2 out of 3 of its disc copies on Blu-ray, which should become more and more common as Blu-ray reaches for mainstream, and then domination, status.
