The results and analysis for Blu-ray (and DVD) sales for the week ending 16th July 2011 has just been posted. There were only two new releases in the top 20 last week (and the most popular was "13 Assassins"), but this week, there are no less than 6 new releases, including the A-lister Rango, which was the best seller on Blu-ray.
This time last year, it was one of the worst weeks for Blu-ray market share, thanks largely to lack of new releases. This week, market share was nearly 70% better off, but despite this and the nearly 62% rise in Blu-ray revenue, DVD revenue losses still dragged down overall revenue, although only by around $6m.
