The results and analysis for Blu-ray (and DVD) sales for the week ending 6th August 2011 is in. A better new release, and instantly, both Blu-ray and DVD sales perked up. That new release was Rio.
Also worth noting for the week was that, year-on-year wise, Blu-ray's rise in revenue actually managed to fully offset DVD's losses (admittedly, mainly due to DVD losses being negligible, at only 3.6%, compared to the usual 20-30%). Studios will hope that this trend is repeated time and time again.
