The results and analysis for Blu-ray (and DVD) sales for the week ending 22nd October 2011 is in. Another almost record breaking week, thanks to another "Disney Special". And by that, I mean another Disney title that was released as a Blu-ray exclusive (no DVD-only versions, only combos, and combo sales only count as Blu-ray sales). Except this time, it wasn't the usual re-release of a timeless animated classic, this was a real A-list title in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
And so, Blu-ray market share is through the roof, as was Blu-ray revenue, but DVD revenue drops compared to recent weeks to produce an overall revenue figure that's still about the same as you would expect.
