The results and analysis for Blu-ray (and DVD) sales for the week ending 12th November 2011 is in. It was Harry Potter week, perhaps the last ever in terms of Blu-ray sales, as the final Harry Potter installement was released and totally destroyed the solitary other non Harry Potter new release (The Change-Up).
The disappointing thing comes from overall revenue, even as Blu-ray market share continues at record levels. Comparing this week to the same week a year ago, there was only a $4m revenue rise, despite the $380 million+ HP movie going up against last year's $160 million+ Grown-Ups.
