The results and analysis for Blu-ray (and DVD) sales for the week ending 8th December 2012 is in. The Dark Knight Rises and the trilogy box set that features this movie completely and utterly dominated the Blu-ray and DVD sales charts for this week.
But while Blu-ray revenue is up a healthy 40% compared to the same week last year, which had its own fair share of good releases (The Help, Hangover II and Cowboys & Aliens), DVD revenue was down a disappointing 21%. This helped Blu-ray market share to reach the second highest level of the year (Blu-ray revenue was also second highest of the year), but overall revenue still fell compared to a year ago.
