Microsoft has announced that Dolby Vision is coming to the Xbox One via System Update 1810 for Insider previewers.

Both Xbox One S and Xbox One X users will be able to stream in Dolby Vision, one of the major HDR formats currently on the market, as long as their TV supports the format.

Surprisingly, Dolby Vision support is only being added to Netflix (and users will require a separate Netflix Premium subscription in order to access HDR features), and will not be available for Ultra HD Blu-ray discs, yet.

Dolby Vision offers several improvements over HDR10, the most commonly supported HDR format, notably the support for dynamic metadata, which maps each scene to ensure the most accurate depiction, as opposed to only having data for the entire movie or TV show.
